Worth it Wednesday

Self care

This one is strictly for the ladies

Product: Brazilian wax

Initial Thoughts: It was going to be terrible. It didn’t matter that I had experienced child birth 3 times, I just knew that it wasn’t something that I could probably tolerate. Other than the pain, I was a little scared and timid. I mean you really are putting your whole business out in front of someone. Sure I do it for my Ob-Gyn, but I don’t like it then so surely I wouldn’t want to do it outside of the hubs.

How’s it Going: There is some pain associated with getting waxed. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that, but it’s definitely manageable and is all about breathing. Now the Brazilian is different than the bikini wax so that’s also an option as a place to start if this is a whole new world for you. Honestly, after I went the first time I was a little disappointed. I wished it hadn’t taken me so long to go. I can’t speak for other backgrounds, but for my Black household this wasn’t a subject ever covered because it was just seen as a no go zone (so were tampons…..but that’s a whole different subject). I’ve never been one to be okay with having an Amazon forest between my legs so I would either shave (another thing that I wasn’t taught how to do properly, but figured it out for the most part) or just got hubby to grab some clippers and tighten everything up. All of the just grew tiring so I figured why not try something else completely. The next goal is to get to get on the calendar so I can try out sugaring versus getting waxed. Based on what I’ve researched, it’s better overall.

Is it Worth it: Yes…but I accept the negatives that come along with it. Getting in the butterfly position may never be something you’ll get used to, but those few minutes create a few weeks of enjoyment (I personally feel it enhances the feeling in the erogenous zone). This is apart of my self care and my husband is very appreciate. A few things to consider are your pain threshold, price, and the proper care needed to avoid ingrown hairs. Everything becomes a personal preference, but this is one of those things that you really can get used to if you do it enough.

Ladies, what are your thoughts on the matter?

I absolutely love getting waxed (sugared) I can not do hot wax. My first time was almost 10 years ago because of our first international trip to the DR and I had to make sure she was right 😂. After that I am as hooked, until COVID. You just reminded me I need to get back to my monthly routine.
