Worth it Wednesday

Summer

Product: Kalahari Resorts and Conventions

Initial Thoughts: After finally making a decision about what we wanted to do for vacation, since we still have a little person that can’t do everything the older ones can we wanted to find something that would be fun for all. We knew that an all in one place could solve our issues. Prior to coming, the amount of commercials that advertised for the resort was insane so it was just a build up of excitement. Also, we didn’t tell the kids anything so we were anticipating how they would respond once we finally made it.

How’s it Going: This is exactly what I thought it would be. It’s been so nice to go and have fun and then end the day in our room. The water park has tons of activities for everyone of all ages. I was able to ride several of the slides with the oldest and we were able to enjoy the lazy river (it actually wasn’t anything like the lazy of old because it went way too fast) as a family. The arcade zone with the rides has been our favorite so far. The games have been so much fun to try and win and the little is able to ride several of the rides that the bigger kids can so it’s been fun to have her express her excitement as a “big girl”. The food has been great and we have way too many leftovers honestly. One of the biggest things to remember is expect to spend a decent amount of money or prepare to bring everything you don’t want to spend money on. This particular location is great because it’s located near a Walmart as well as other eateries if you desire to conserve some money.

Here are a few of the cons

- Depending on the time of day using the elevator can be an extended task. This makes sense considering there are tons of people checking in and out as well as guests going to the various amenities. Patience is key as well as trying schedule the best times to do activities.

- The room wasn’t that clean. We did receive a text message alerting us to the resort knowing that it’s not up to the usual standards, but it was a lot less clean than expected. I always bring cleaning supplies with me on trips so I have a full can a Lysol and Microban bathroom cleaner. It’s not ideal, but I know things can happen with so many people coming in and out so it’s something to consider if you’re coming somewhere like this.

- Dining Options are nonexistent late at night. Everything started closing up around 10:00pm. This is early considering that the arcade was open until 11:00. The pizzeria was able to service us on the first night, but we made sure to eat earlier as well as get our sweet treats before everything closed up after that. I’m not certain if it was a weekday thing since we planned to come when we assumed there would be fewer people, but unless you want to go off property you have to do things in a timely manner.

Is it Worth it: Heck yes! Even though we are in a queen sized bed in the same room as the kids (This is a big deal in my eyes), it has been worth every second. The kids are enjoying themselves and I’ve been able to sleep in a little. I can now see that we have to invest in come blackout curtains in our room at home because of how well the ones in the room accommodate me being able to sleep in. Everything being in one place and lots of options means that it’s money well spent in my opinion.

Have you ever taken a family vacation that was all inclusive or you had access to everything in one location? What are your thoughts?
