Worth it Wednesday

Period

Product: Period panties

Initial Thoughts: I was excited, but I knew that I couldn’t spend the money (I’m cheap and have no regrets about it) that Thinx brand requires. I went to the mighty Amazon and did an extensive search on which ones had great reviews and were budget friendly. I am very cautious when ordering things that others haven’t reviewed. I have two different brands, but they both are more of the sport brief cut since I workout all the time and need something that is comfortable without being a complete granny panty. I’m not knocking them, but I’m just saying....not everyone desires to cover up the top of their thigh every time they put on a pair of underwear.

How Well Do They Hold Up: So I’m going to be very transparent. If you can’t handle it just skip down to the bottom. I don’t know what happened after baby #3 and getting over the 35 hump but my body did a complete nosedive. I remember back in the day when people would be talking about needing to stay out sick when they would get their periods and it just didn’t make sense. Now, it absolutely does. Between the amount of pain I started experiencing and the increase in flow I was a complete wreck and it was messy. I gave up feeling sorry for myself and just bought them since I really didn’t have much to lose. While they won’t help with any type of pain, they definitely do a great job of keeping your clothes and sheets from getting stained. I feel confident whether I have on a pantyliner or not (which is big). Now I’m not a fool so on heavy days I do wear a liner as a backup to my tampon.

Is it Worth it: Heck yes...well if you want to feel a little more comfortable during a time that clearly wasn’t designed to be. Thinx has some amazing designs and ones that are super cute, but the idea of getting one panty for about $30.00 doesn’t sit well in my spirit knowing what could potentially happen. As a woman, I know this isn’t something that we usually talk about with anyone really but this is information we need to know. I refuse to be one of those folks that finds out something beneficial for others and refuses to share. The two brands that I purchased were:

I’m certain I’ll be going back and getting some more in the future that are much cuter and a bit more attractive, but I mean they are designed more for function than to be fancy. I know I’m not the only person that’s considered these so I’d gladly encourage you to take the plunge! As a girl mom, I know that this will be something that will be beneficial to my crew in the future and I’m glad they have something like this so they don’t have to feel the embarrassment and shame that we did back in the 90s.

What are your thoughts on period panties? Do you plan on getting some or do you have some?
